What is blue lotus?
Blue lotus is a water lily with pale blue, star-shaped flowers. It grows along the Nile and in parts of East and Southern Africa.
Traditional use
Blue lotus appears throughout ancient Egyptian art. The flowers were traditionally steeped in tea or wine and used to relax and unwind.
What research is looking at
There is very little modern human research on blue lotus. Scientists have identified natural compounds in the flower, such as aporphine and nuciferine, but how they work in people is not yet well understood.
How to take it
Take 1 gummy in the evening as part of your wind-down routine.
Who should check first
Blue lotus may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery after use, and do not combine with alcohol, sedatives or sleep medication. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor first if you take any prescription medication.
